On Saturday, January the 14th, Bitnamic co-hosts a Hackathon for Augmented, Mixed and Virtual Reality.
Together with Osnabrück’s startups Adaptvis, Forestage Technologies and Virtual Spice, we want to show how much potential there is in the Osnabrück and Weser-Ems region.
Participants and guests will get an introduction to those new technologies. They will work together closely with well-known companies like FRIMO, Testia, Anlagenbau Habeck, GiS and Salt&Pepper to create exciting proof of concepts.
In Industry 4.0, companies are always facing new challengens and they always have to (re)consider bussines opportunities in a clever way. With Augmented, Mixed and Virtual Reality, there are lots of exciting scenarios and use cases. The hackathon offers a unique way to connect those companies with motivated developers and minds to work closely on those use cases and scenarios together. All results will be published on GitHub!
We, the team of Bitnamic, are looking forward to this event to have a nice, friendly, collaborative and efficient day.
In the current issue of the magazine i-Quadrat for intelligent maintenance, we present a scenario to make remote maintenance smarter and more efficient. An example created by Bitnamic and GiS (Gesellschaft für integrierte Systemplanung) shows the advantages of combining enterprise asset management and remote maintenance systems for service and maintenance.
Using modern remote maintenance solution VIOS in combination with solutions like enterprise asset management systems or additional systems like SCADA, SAP or BDE offers a comprehensive view of the problem. Experts get audiovisual and data based state descriptions, and technicians on site get precise instructions. A positive side effect comes from the documentation of the executed tasks. Using VIOS allows records, artefacts, images and actual data to be added to the documentation history. This way the data can be accessed later and records can be used as manuals. This is an important aspect for machine manufacturers, for example while handing over or in after sales service in remote regions. Using the knowledge gained, documented as cause of error analysis in the knowledge database, machines and service processes can be optimized continuously. Guarantee cases can be solved remotely. The distribution and usage of third-party provider knowledge is another advantage.
You can find additional information on combining VIOS with EAT systems as well on the consequent advantages in the i-Quadrat article online (link below) or in the print issue 02/2016.
i-Quadrat Article (German)
Industry 4.0 intelligently connects people, machines and industrial processes by using modern communication and information technology. It affects many different areas like production, logistics or maintenance. Industry 4.0 is also a main topic of the digital agenda of the government of Germany. Under leadership of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) the Plattform Industrie 4.0 shapes the structural change together with businesses, unions and sciences. The Platform also supports businesses with an online map, which shows where Industry 4.0 is already implemented today, by means of about 250 examples.
For Bitnamic, Industry 4.0 is a very important topic. VIOS is a modern communication technology and connects people and machines in various service and maintenance processes. This is why we are very happy about VIOS being accepted as a practical example in the Industry 4.0 map.
The acceptance emphasises the meaning of VIOS as an Industry 4.0 solution in practical use, and shows why it is worth to invest in digitisation. With VIOS Bitnamic is supporting companies in optimising and modernising maintenance and service so they can avoid downtimes and reduce travel costs.

In October the InnovationsCentrum Osnabrück held a Prototypen Party for the first time in Osnabrück together with the Team Prototypenparty from Hannover.
Start-up Companies as well as individuals could sign up to present their Prototypes to an interested audience. Additionally there were 50 feedbackers who tested the prototypes and voted for their favourites.
Bitnamic participated with the HTML5 Callcenter, a solution for digital consultation meetings. Our Prototype uses modern Web-technologies to realize video-based consultation meetings in a webbrowser, without depending on plugins.
We could present our idea to the audience and were happy about the positive feedback. We could even win the first prize in the final voting of the feedbackers.
Many thanks to the Team Prototypenparty and the ICO Osnabrück for a great event. You can find information about the event and additional pictures in the NOZ article (external Link (german)).
